Meals For Work Sessions
Meals for Work Sessions
· Meals are provided in January and February during the construction phase.
Starting in December, please see the Calendar for specific dates and times. Suzanne
Cox is chairing the Meals for Work Sessions.
· Dinner is at 5:30. Meals include entrée, salad, dessert, beverages and optional
bread or other side dishes. Some leftover serving items are stored in the lab. Typically
you must provide everything: cups, utensils, plates, food, drink, serving utensils and
containers/bags/foil for leftovers. Bring a wet washrag too, as water is not handy.
· A shop table is used to put the food on; it is not usually clean so a tablecloth is
needed. A tablecloth will be available in the shop.
· Provide LOTS of food. The team consists of 21 students and 5-6 or so mentors.
As the work sessions get longer, the team and mentors will get hungry again by about
10-11 pm. Leaving a snack after you clean up dinner for later is a good idea (like party
mix, rice Crispy treats, cookies, brownies, chips & salsa are good as they are finger
food and don’t require cleanup)
· Vary the menu--eating hamburger 5 nights in a row gets really old, even if it is
different. Try to have healthy options like fruit and salad too. We have at least one
vegetarian. If you don’t like to cook, you can order chicken, pizza, subs, etc.
· Crock pots work great to hold the food and keep it warm. They do not need to be
plugged in as they eat it all so fast.
· No refrigeration is available; bring drinks already cold or in coolers. You can leave
the coolers with drinks and then have your child bring it home that night.
· As Saturdays become longer, we will need meals planned for then as well.
· Each family should plan on providing 2-3 meals.
